Prof. Cai graduated from Tongji Medical University, Wuhan, and received his MD and PhD degree in medicine from Wuhan University (2006). Prof. Cai is the Assistant Principal of Fuwai Hospital, the chief of Hypertension center in Fuwai Hospital, Beijing, China. He is the principal investigator of the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, China. He serves concurrently as the vice chief of the Specialized Hypertension Committee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA), the chief of Specialized Hypertension Committee of Cross-Straits Medicine Exchange Association(SMEA), the chief of the Hypertension Quality Control Committee of CMDA, the vice chief and secretary general of the Certification Work Committee of National Hypertension Center, the executive vice president of the Beijing Society of Physiology, the chairman of Professional Committee of Cardiovascular Diseases of the Beijing Society of Physiology, the member of the Specialized Hypertension Committee of Chinese Society of Cardiology and Chinese Society of Geriatrics, etc.
Prof. Cai has been granted the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the New Century Excellent Talents in University supported by the Ministry of Education in China, the 14th China Youth Science and Technology Award and the 16th Mao Yisheng Youth Science and Technology Award.
Prof. Cai has made many contributions to the clinical work and the basic, clinical and community research in the field of hypertension. He has engaged in cardiovascular disease diagnosis and therapy for over 15 years and particularly specializes in complicated hypertension diagnosis and management. Prof. Cai currently hosts more than 10 scientific programs including the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), the National Natural Science Foundation of Key Project and so on. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed SCI papers as corresponding-authored or first-authored in journals including NEJM, Circulation and Hypertension.
